Hi there,

Just found your link from google and liked the comparisons. It is very apt and true. I been using this phone for nearly a week and it rocks. A minor irks here and there but i'm still getting used to it. Though my biggest gripe at the moment is the lack of apps for it along with using unofficial methods to improve some aspects of the phone.

What are the main apps you would recommend i install in the phone?

IMHO, Sony Ericsson SATIO is a good phone. But I will still prefer Omnia HD because,
1. Better screen (3.7 inches vs 3.5 inches, AMOLED vs normal TFT )
2. Better video camera (HD video recording Vs VGA)

Satio has a 12 MP camera to its advantage. But don't fall for the mega pixel war. You don't need 12 MP for normal use. In my Omnia HD I use only 3.2 MP resolution. Anything over 3 MP will make the file size very large and won't be suitable for viewing in screen. The 12 MP is only useful if you want to print in very large size.

Yes, SATIO is one of the best still camera's in a mobile with a good "touch to focus" functionality like the iPhone 3GS and is recommended if still photo quality is the most important thing for you. But for me, Samsung Omnia HD is a more balanced one - Excellent still camera plus the best video camera, unmatched screen quality.

You can check the full comparison at gsmarena.

@mana nanda, wa alaikum salam
Omnia HD is an excellent phone and you won't regret buying. When comparing with Nokia N97 it has many advantages - Better still and video camera, excellent screen etc. However, Nokia N97 has more available applications and as Nokia started the OVI store, you can find application more easily. But overall, IMHO, Omnia HD is a better phone than Nokia N97.

@Vengon,
Thanks for your comment. Regarding the battery life, the standby time is rated as 600 hours (25 days). But standby time is just a measurement of how long the phone can be in "switched on" mode; it does not include any phone operations / calls etc. Of course, the average battery life will be different for each user as their "average use" is different. It can playback almost 6 hours of video before draining out which is excellent. Also, GSM arena has conducted an "average battery life" test. It clocked 3 days (72 hours). During those 72 hours they used the handset in a somewhat "normal usage" pattern that included all of the following: 250 min of mp3 playback, 60 min video playback of SD content, 50 min of talking and finally, 40 min of mobile web browsing over 3G. This is an excellent figure and battery life is of course one of the plus points of Omnia I8910 HD.

If you're getting low battery life, this could be due to the following.

Very early firmware

Network - Battery will be drained soon if the signal strength is weak

You can also try disabling the WiFi and bluetooth

@Praveen,
Thanks for your comment. Regarding your questions,
1. No, the phone does not hang frequently. For me it hanged only once when I tried to play a corrupted video file. Symbian is a stable and powerful OS and you don't need to worry about that.
2. No the processor is just 600 MHz. The 1 GHz advertisement was not true. Samsung India people just added the 420 MHz Audio DSP processor to the speed of the CPU (600 MHz + 420 MHz = 1 GHz). They corrected it later and the new advertisements only say 600 MHz CPU + 420 MHz Audio DSP.
